Unit Of Inquiry:
Languages spoken in our home countries! We are 22 students in K2 and come from around the world. This is how we greet in our home countries: Australia: Hello Mate! China: Ni Hao! England: Hello! India: Namaste! Israel: Shalom! Japan: Konichiva! Korea: Yeoboseyo! Malaysia: As Salaam Alaikum! NewZealand: Hello! Norway: Hallo! Russia: Zdravstvuyte! Spain: Hola! Taiwan: Ni Hao! Data: We collected data of our favourite colour and birthdays of our fiends in K2. We found that Golden was the most popular colour and was liked by 5 friends in the class. July was the month which had the most birthdays in K2 and the month of May had no birthdays! Literacy: Trade a word:
The strategy, trade a word, provides readers with the option to continue reading by using a similar word for an unknown word. Reading continues and meaning stays intact. We traded the word happy as a whole class and then went off in groups to work on the word big.
