Central Idea: Routines support our well-being Lines of inquiry:
This week, we started our new unit of inquiry, 'Who We Are.' We looked at the words in our central idea, 'routines, support and well-being.' We tried to think about what these mean to us. Do we understand these words? We all worked together and came up with ideas, we felt matched the central idea. Grace said, "Support means to help and one routine we do is when we unpack our bag in the morning. Routine means something that we do over and over again." "The counting jar," said Kotoha. "We do snack time and the days of the week," said Antoine. "We always do the weather, the password, lunch time, playtime and how many days at school," said Riei. Andy said, "Carpet time!" "We also do the calendar and go home at the end of school," said Athan. For well-being, we had to unpack the words. First we looked at 'well' and what that means then we looked at 'being.' "Well means to be good," said Andy, showing thumbs up. "Being as in a human being and well as in healthy?" asked Grace. "yes!" said Mrs Hinkel. "You mean, like a healthy human?" Grace said. "Yes!" said Mrs Hinkel again. "To be a healthy human, you have to eat healthy food and play football and basketball," said Antoine. "You need to sleep, drink water, eat fruit, dance, read books and play tennis," said Riei. "I think eating vegetable is good but eating candy is not good," said Athan. " I like to swim," said Sara.
