This week, we have been watching some of the upper Grade classes rehearsing for the winter concert. We watching them miming and dancing. Our focus was to check what it was that they were doing? Was it miming or was it dance? We had to reflect on what we saw and explain how we know, if it was a mime or a dance. We also did some miming in our classroom. Miming is when you move your body and express your ideas and feelings without speaking. Dancing is when you move your body in different ways to music and sometimes it looks like a pattern because you repeat the movements. We learnt lots of movement vocabulary and when we listened to different types of music, we used these movements to express ourselves. In Maths, we have been learning about growing patterns and making movement patterns using our bodies. For growing patterns, we used manipulatives and objects in our classroom. We had to make the pattern grow by increasing the number of objects used, but it was tricky as we had to remember that it is also a repeating pattern. |
