This week, we have been thinking about making a healthy snack. We came up with lots of ideas! Making a pepperoni pizza, fresh fruit salad, fresh fruit juice and soup. We got into 2 groups and discussed what would be best snack to make. Group 1 decided they will make fresh fruit juice and group 2 decided they will make fresh fruit salad. We then had to decide, which fruit we would like to use, how we were going to make it and what utensils we would need to carry out this task. We joined with K2.2 class and we all did it together, cooperated and worked as a team. "It made us feel good, happy and eating a healthy snack is good for our bodies," said Athan, Grace and Riei. Our snacks were delicious. We had enough to share with everyone! We also had our school nurse visit all of K2, and tell us all about the importance of washing hands before eating food, touching food and after going to the toilet. Washing our hands is good for our wellbeing and keeps germs and infections away. Our integrated subjects, P.E, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Mandarin supports our Academic wellbeing. We do brain gym every day! It helps us to focus, learn co-ordination and gets both sides of the brain working. It is so much fun! Ms Hinkel said, she sometimes gets mixed up and really needs to look carefully to see how the actions are done!Mathematics In maths, we have been looking at shapes. We had great fun hunting for all types of shapes in our learning environment and then we had to sort them! We then created lots of shapes using different materials. Some of the shapes were tricky to make, especially the triangle! Can you see what we used to make the shapes with? We explored and investigated shapes and made shape pictures, solved different ways to fill a hexagon shape with other shapes and made a special shape book. Literacy: We have been working on our Daily 5's, read to someone, listen to reading, work on writing, read to self and word work.
