The children saw a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes at the zoo. They found out how important it is for the animals in the zoo to have the right diet and what the role of the vet is in the zoo. The children had the opportunity to make rice balls with chicken and egg for some of the animal's lunch and inserted vitamins in the fish scales for the animals to keep them healthy. creating new animals and names using IT- come and see our display! Comparing numbers - Mirza, Maanya and Mia https://youtu.be/nYXv1gNybro Literacy Fun learning about sharing the planet with animals. We started our unit of inquiry by looking at images of all types of animals. Our question to the children was, 'What do you notice about these images and how do the images make you feel? The children looked at the photos and most of them knew straight away, that some of the animals were not happy and it made them feel sad. The images had some animals in cages, some in Safari Parks, zoos and some in their natural habitat. "The lion is sad because he is locked in a cage" said Maanya. "The Panda is happy because he is not in a cage" said Mirza. "The giraffes are walking about, they are free" said Freya. "The lion is trapped!' said Flynn. "The elephant is sad because he is alone in the cage" said Mia. The elephant is chained, Haruto pointed out. Thalia said "the dogs are in a small cage." "The monkey is happy because he is swinging on the trees, in the jungle," said Aarna. Stefan said, "the Panda is free!" After this activity, we talked about our central idea: People's interaction with animals can be helpful or hurtful. The children were very excited when Archie and Duchess came to visit our class!
