Measuring objects (using non standard units of measurement): Moving our inquiry forward with measurement we realised that to measure accurately we need to measure using the same unit of measurement. We measured the length of objects using ice-cream stick in the class. To measure the length of different parts of the playground we used our body- we hopped, jumped, ran or took baby steps.
Physical, emotional and mental wellbeing: (body, mind and learning) Going further into our inquiry about how routines support our wellbeing, we had an instructor help us do Yoga. It made us feel calm and happy, we could get some exercise and helped build our muscles, thus taking care of our body and mind. Our grade 5 buddies read a book along with us, we could read the words or read the pictures and retell the story (3 ways to read a book). We are working together to make a book which is one way of retelling the story! Reflecting back we connected it to our last line of inquiry: things that help me learn.

Measurement Central Idea: We use tools to measure the attributes of objects and events Unit of Inquiry Key Concept: Responsibility Our responsibilities at school and home: I am responsible for unpacking my bag. I am responsible for eating my lunch. Me and my friends are responsible for cleaning up after playtime. Aunty is responsible for packing my snack. I am responsible to say the password at school in the morning. I am responsible for playing outside. I am responsible for brushing my teeth. Being Balanced: Balancing our routines at school
Reading to become better readers. Doing Yoga to stay healthy and strong. Numbers, numbers everywhere! We have been exploring numbers in our environment and looking at different ways to represent them. We can sort them in different ways, by colour, size or shape. We can use a ten frame to represent the numbers. We could also use tally marks!
Good fit? We cannot wear footwear that are too big or too small! We need to wear footwear that fit us. Just like that we cannot read books that are not a good fit. We pick books that are the right fit for us. Unit of Inquiry: Who We Are Central Idea: Routines support our wellbeing Lines of Inquiry: Ways I take care of my mind Ways I take care of my body Things that help me learn Key Concepts: Causation, Connection and Responsibility We thought about the routines in our day. What are the things we do in our day? We do so many things... Why are these routines important?
