Our new UOI's central idea is: We use our bodies to express ourselves. The lines of inquiry are looking at how we express our ideas and feelings through dance, mime and acrobatics. This week, we were exploring a variety of provocations in our classroom and in the Music room. We used the materials and props and moved our bodies to express how it made us feel. It was great fun using the dressing up clothes, the masks, hats, streamers, musical instruments, listening to music and watching dance videos! In Literacy, we have been focusing on building and expanding our vocabulary through word work. We have also been working on using our voices, to give meaning and expression when reading text, looking at punctuation. In Maths, we have had great fun learning positional language. We looked at above, below, beside, in front of, behind, on, over, under, next to, forward, backward, left and right. We chose a toy from the classroom and a container and we quizzed each other to place the toy in the correct position. We also blindfolded Ms Aini and gave her directions to reach a different part of the classroom! Ms Aini said she felt nervous and a little bit scared! We then had a go at programming a BeeBot to move it forward, left, right and backwards on the alphabet mat and our own whole class mat.
