This week, we looked at safety at school and at home and how this affects our wellbeing. Do we feel scared, upset, comfortable, worried, safe? We also looked at who is responsible for keeping us safe. We were quite surprised to learn that, although the adults are there to keep us safe, but, we are also responsible for keeping ourselves safe. It is a shared responsibility! "We have the lock down and the fire drill practises at school," said Grace. "If you hear the lockdown sound, please hide under a table," said Andy. "Remember to be careful when using scissors," said Kotoha. Athan said, "Don't run up and down the stairs." "In the playground, you have to climb up and down carefully when you are on the climbing frame and hold tight," said Rei and Antoine. "No running in the classroom," said Sara. For our wellbeing, we need to take care at home too, by not jumping on the bed, staying away from hot pans on the cooker, not touching broken glass and climbing up ladders that lead to the roof. We looked at our routines at school and thought of different activities we could do that will help our wellbeing. "I want to use the computer today," said Rei, Sara and Kotoha. "I want to play the game, Trouble," said Antoine, Andy and Athan. "Lets play Monoply," said Riei. "I want to write a story," said Grace. In Mathematics, we have been continuing with shapes, talking about the shape properties and using the feely bag to describe the shapes. We worked hard on drawing triangles using dotted paper, it was tricky making pictures using only triangles. We also looked at lines of symmetry in shapes. In Literacy, we have been working on using our capital letters, finger spaces and full stops when writing sentences. We have also been practising to form our letters accurately and use dictionaries to spell words. We have been focusing on cross checking to see if the words match the pictures when reading our books.
